Blogger Austin Okai, arraigned in court over story he wrote claiming Kogi Governor bought cars worth $12m for traditional rulers A Kogi state based blogger, Austin Okai, has been arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate court in the state for allegedly publishing defamatory reports about the state governor, Yahaya Bello. Okai who was arrested on Monday April 10th and transferred to Lokoja, the state capital, was yesterday arraigned in court on charges of circulating reports accusing the state governor of buying cars worth $12m for traditional rulers and commissioners, orchestrating rumors of the governor's death, and inciting the public against the stae governor. Okai is also alleged to have planned to burn down the newly-built Revenue House in Lokoja. The court remanded Okai in police custody and adjourned his trial to Thursday, April 13th.

Photos: Father slits 13-year-old daughter's throat after argument about her spending too much time on social media A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Phatthalung, Thailand for inflicting serious injuries on his 13-year-old daughter after arguing with her over the amount of time she spent on Facebook and other social media platform. The suspect identified as Joi, slit her throat on Sunday morning,  April 9th, and then locked her in a rented house in Phetchaburi's Muang district. He was arrested at a checkpoint in Prachuap Khiri Khan's Thap Sakae district on Sunday night while trying to flee with his youngest daughter. Joi told police he attacked the girl out of rage after they argued about her spending too much time on Facebook and Line. His wife, 44, corroborated that version of events. Photos: FRSC Rivers state commander cuts off hair extensions of female members The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) shared these photos showing the Rivers State Sector Commander, Andrew A Kumapayi, cutting off the hair extension of two female members during the command's parade today April 10th. Their hair was cut off because it contravened some work place regulations. The commission has a rule which states that all female uniformed officers must not have a hairstyle that drops past their collar.  More photos below...  

Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, visits Skyebank in Abuja over her unfrozen $5.9m Former First lady, Patience Jonathan, today paid a visit to a branch of Skye Bank in the Maitama area of Abuja. Her visit followed a fresh order of a Federal High Court in Lagos lifting the order of interim forfeiture placed on her account with the bank. Read ( here ) Recall that EFCC had launched an investigation into the said account following allegations that the funds domiciled in the account were proceeds from fraud. The account was frozen last December but was unfrozen last Friday. According to reports, Mrs Jonathan arrived the bank at about 10am and did not leave the bank premises until 4pm . She is said to have had an extensive meeting with top executives of the bank.  She declined to speak with press men.
