During the funeral services of a man in Anambra state, an alleged drunk sex worker got into sexual activity with a man who was there for the funeral, right in front of other sympathizers. The Nigerian army is set to spend heavily on weapons in 2018 to aid its efforts in the defence of the country, against threats to its security. This is contained in the breakdown of procurements covering the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force and the Nigerian Navy, as outlined in the 2018 budget. The sum of N1,024,800,000 has been budgeted for part payment for three light utility helicopters, N1billion for the purchase of armoured vehicles, and N300m for the acquisition of 25 infantry patrol vehicles. Purchase of vehicles for Operation Lafiya Dole which deals with insurgency in the northeast region is allocated N235,697,000. The total budgetary allocation of the army for the anti-insurgency war stands at about N7.5billion as against N5billion in the 2017 budget. 22 billion is marked down for the purchase of fighter jets for the Air Force while two landing ship tanks is to be purchased for the navy at a cost of N5.95billion. 

50-year-old Mohammad Ssemanda, a food vendor at Kasenyi landing site, in Wakiso district, Uganda stunned many when he married three women at once and not minding the fact that two of the brides are sisters. According to Uganda's New Vision, the wedding ceremony took place on Wednesday afternoon at a one Sophia Namaalo's home, located at the Katabi town council in Wakiso district. The wedding ceremony was presided by one Sheikh Swaleh Mugenyi. The man who appeared happy on his special day as he posed for photos with the three women clad in wedding gowns, revealed that all his wives openly agreed to marry him on the same day because they love him, despite financial woes. According to him, "My wives are not jealous against each other. Good enough, each has got a home and I promise to work harder and support them," Ssemanda said. The brides included a 48-year-old Salmat Naluwugge, his first wife whom they have spent 20 years with their five children. 

A young lady was killed in a fatal accident along Arji road, Imufu in Enugu-Ezike, Igbo Eze North local government Area of Enugu State. The deceased  who was identified through her ATM Card as Omeh Charity Chinenye, from Umuopia was believed to have been walking along the road when an unknown speeding crushed her to death. Lagos State Governor,   Akinwunmi Ambode  has released twelve inmates of the   Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison   in Apapa in furtherance of the law establishing the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.   According to reports, the inmates have spent between twenty and thirty-four years in prison and were released having satisfied basic conditions such as remorse, good behaviour and readiness to contribute meaningfully to the society.   Speaking while handing over the release order from the Governor to the Lagos Prisons Command, Chairman of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy,   Professor Oyelowo Oyewo , said the release of the inmates was in line with the commitment of the present administration to the ideals of the justice sector reforms through prison decongestion. Today, an Egyptian military court sentenced a colonel  Ahmed Konsowa  to six years in prison after he announced plans to stand in the 2018 presidential election. Konsowa was given the jail term for “stating political opinions contrary to the requirements of military order”, his lawyer Asaad Heikal said.  The colonel had announced he would be a candidate for president in video messages and a statement on Facebook on November 29. He was also accused of “appearing on the social network website Facebook in military uniform, contrary to the requirements of military order,” Heikal said.  The 42-year-old has been in custody since his arrest on December 2 as military prosecutors investigated the case, Heikal said.  On Tuesday, the lawyer said he will appeal the verdict.
