Photo: Suspect arrested for burglary, theft in Abia three months after being released from prison for kidnapping The Abia State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber who was released from prison for a case of kidnapping three months ago. Detectives attached to Central Police Station Umuahia while on early morning foot patrol today, June 6th, intercepted the suspect, Joseph Etim, of Amuzukwu Umuahia in possession of a big 'Ghana must go' bag. A thorough search of the bag revealed assorted provisions, cosmetics and wines. Upon interrogation, he confessed to have broken into one of the POWA shops along Finbars road Umuahia. Spokesperson for the Command, DSP Geoffery Ogbonna said that this same suspect was arrested, arraigned in December 2016 and remanded in prison custody but was released in March, 2017 when the complainant declined to prosecute the case. Investigation is ongoing.

Baby born without a nose dies at age 2 Eli Thompson, the boy who made the news when he was born in 2015 without a nose due to a rare condition (read  here ) has died at the age of 2 in Alabama. Eli was born prematurely with congenital arhinia — a condition so rare it reportedly affects only one in nearly 200 million births.  The condition can cause trouble with breathing and eating. His soft palate also did not develop fully. At only 5 days old, he received a tracheotomy. All through his short life, he required constant care. Caring for a baby with the same condition Eli suffered from is known to take a lot of work. 25-year old Federal contractor arrested for leaking classified NSA intelligence to news outlets A 25-year-old federal contractor, 'Reality Leigh Winner' has been arrested and is facing charges she leaked a classified National Security Agency document to a news outlet in May 2017. The charges against her came about an hour after the publication of a story based on an NSA document detailing Russian attempts to hack American voting systems in 2016.     According to the Washington Examiner, Winner's arrest could signal the federal government is going to aggressively investigate and prosecute individuals who send classified intelligence to news organizations.  Trump and other Republican allies in Washington have made pursuing leakers one of their top priorities, but Winner is the first to face charges for releasing classified intelligence.   Winner is facing charges that she removed classified material from a government facility and mailed ...

Graphic photos: Man shot dead in his farm in Delta state According to Facebook user, Christian Onwugbolu, an unidentified man from Amai community in Ukwani local government area of Delta state, was shot dead in his farm. He however didn't specify what led to the man's death. SUG president, Umaru Waziri Fed Poly dies in a motor accident (photos) The Student Union Government President, Umaru Waziri Federal Polytechnic, Mustapha Muhammed lost his life in the early hours of today after he was involved in a ghastly motor accident. Mr Mustapha was in HND 2 before meeting his untimely death. Facebook user, Suleiman Mahmud T shared photos from the accident scene on his page and wrote; Inallilahi waina illehi rajiun..! Her partner Ross Casey, 35, was asleep in bed while she fed her then two-month-old daughter. Photos: Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo seeks NASS approval for $1.49bn loan for 10 states  Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has written to the National Assembly seeking approval for foreign loan requests of about $1.49 billion to ten states of the federation for crucial infrastructural projects. The letters were read by the Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives at Tuesday's plenary. The ten states seeking for the loan include Ogun, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Kano, Abia, Katsina, Jigawa, Enugu, Plateau and Ondo states. According to the state governors, the loan would be used in the provision of water, health, agriculture and infrastructural development. Osinbajo's letter states that the funding is to be sourced from the African Development Bank, French Development Agency, World Bank and slamic Development Bank at low interest rates hence the request for approval to enable the ten states to seek for external financing of the critical projects. ...

Tres Johnson has craniofacial duplication and doctors told his parents, Brandy and Joshua, that their son was not likely to survive for long. Surprisingly, he has surpassed expectations to live longer than expected. Tres, from Missouri, USA, was born with a large cleft, two separate nostrils, an abnormally shaped head, cognitive delays and suffers seizures. The condition is so rare that there are only 36 people in the world who have it. It is caused by the Sonic the Hedgehog (SHH) gene which alters the formation of the skull. Tres received more than 14 different diagnoses before doctors realized he had craniofacial duplication, also known as Diprosopus - the Greek word for "two faces".
